Mastermind Groups: What They Are and How They Can Help You

When was the last time you had a problem - but you didn’t know who to talk to about it? Sometimes things come up - BIG things - that weigh heavy, but you don’t know who to turn to for advice.

Especially when your own business is involved, it may not be something you want to share openly with your spouse, business partner, vendors or franchisees.

What you need (besides the ability to vent), is the unbiased advice and opinions of an uninvolved and qualified third-party. Even better, is if they know what it’s like to stand in your shoes and can relate to your experiences as a franchisor.

This is where being part of a franchise mastermind group can be so powerful.

What is a Mastermind Group?

A mastermind group (sometimes called a peer group) is a group of professionals that meet and talk regularly with the common goal of improving both their personal and professional success. Historically, these were groups of local professionals from different backgrounds and industries that would get together for an in-person meeting on a weekly or monthly basis.

But today, technology allows us to participate in mastermind groups with professionals from all over the country. This is beneficial in a few ways: it provides opportunities to connect with a more diverse population of professionals and allows mastermind groups to be more highly targeted towards a particular industry.

As is the case with ZorForum.

This new mastermind group is a franchisor organization, and is targeted specifically to franchisor executives who want to take their businesses to the next level - and make friends along the way! These are people who want to collaborate, solve problems and learn together. What it’s not, is a place where people will tell you what to do or make decisions for you. There is no voting, no power - nothing but relationships, experience, networks and ideas to share. And you choose what you do with it.

As we stated earlier, it’s also a safe place where you can share confidential information and sensitive problems as they arise. So the next time you’re dealing with an issue and you find yourself thinking, “I don’t know who to talk to about this stuff,” you can rest easier knowing that you have a group of professionals who have your back - if you’re part of the ZorForum network. Over time, these individuals will not only provide support during the regular meetings, but you’ll feel comfortable calling them directly for advice anytime.

With ZorForum up and running, there has never been a better time for franchisors to get involved with a mastermind group. As a group facilitator, I see the value growing in each meeting - and I am excited to be part of the process.
