Earlier this month I attended the FaegreBD Franchise Summit in Minneapolis. Hosted by the Law Firm of Faegre Baker Daniels, this annual event attracted 150 professionals from 75 different franchise brands.
In my opinion, this event is really a leadership summit, which was reflected clearly in the theme of this year’s event: Leadership and Collaboration: Difference Makers for Successful Franchise Relationships and the Brand Promise. From international opportunities, to collaboration strategies and managing front-line employees, each session throughout the two-day conference offered a great deal of value for franchise executives.
A highlight of the event for me was the presentation by Melanie Bergeron of Two Men and a Truck who spoke about the story of her family’s business – as well as the ups and downs she’s experienced along the way. It was a story I found very relatable, given my experiences working in my own family’s franchise organization.
Also notable was Waldo the Wingman’s inspiring message to “push it up,” Gerry O’Brion’s opening presentation on managing change, and the various panel and roundtable discussions, which covered everything from unit economics to international franchising.
I want to thank Franchise Attorney Brian Schnell for once again organizing such a well-planned event. I’ve been coming for a number of years and am always impressed with the tremendous networking and educational opportunities the summit provides.
