The annual IFA convention just came to a close. What an event! #IFA2021
While the convention looked much different this year, we still got to take advantage of all the great content that IFA is known for - there were dozens of seminars, speakers and breakout workshops on everything from franchise operations to marketing, labor issues and COVID-19 recovery policies. It was really cool listening to Seth Godin speak - as well as three of my good friends, all of whom nailed their presentations.
And while there were no big in person parties and opportunities to hug old friends, there were some advantages to the digital platform: not only did I get to stay home with my family, but the event was spread out over nine days (rather than four), which allowed attendees more time to engage with all the conference had to offer. Not only that, but the material will be available on demand until May 2021 so that we can view the material again and again - I like having that option this year.
The Zoom rooms were plentiful, and most folks are pretty good at it by now...but it’s just not the same. While it’s good information, the interaction and side comments are something I really missed. At the same time, however, it was good to get into and out of sessions without too many distractions or interruptions. And while I did hear comments from some participants who felt like the two-week schedule of events was too long, I did enjoy having the time to meet new people and make valuable connections - I’ll bet YOU did too, right?
I missed my friends, the handshakes and the hugs, but overall, it was a great event. The IFA staff and leadership did a great job - they always do - it’s an organization that I’m proud to be a member of.
If you’re NOT yet an IFA Member, let’s talk (I’m on the Membership Committee) and please consider it. Membership provides tremendous value and resources - as well as connects you with committed and professional people in the industry!
