As December rolls in, I find it’s the perfect time for reflection and gratitude. This year, I’ve realized that while many people know of me, they may not know the whole story—who I am, where I come from, and most importantly, why I do what I do. So, I’d like to share a little more about myself and my passion for franchising.
I’m John Francis, but most people know me as Johnny Franchise. It’s a nickname that reflects my lifelong connection to the franchise industry. My story starts back in the 1960s when my parents launched a hair salon franchise system. As the youngest of five, I grew up immersed in the world of franchising—so much so that I thought everyone lived this way.
My early years were spent working in our family’s salon franchisor business, where I wore just about every hat possible. From operations, training, finance, and marketing to mergers, acquisitions, and international expansion—I lived and breathed franchising. I even became a franchisee, running multiple units across different states. It was a fast-paced, chaotic, and invaluable learning experience that shaped my understanding of every corner of the franchise world.
Now, I use my experience, knowledge, and network to guide franchisors to get it right—to build strong systems, empower their franchisees, and achieve the growth they’re striving for. What drives me? Seeing the impact that success creates.
